INSiGHT™ Scanning Technology

female holding family paper cutoutProviding patients with state-of-the-art care is an important part of what we do at ViVO Chiropractic ®. We are proud to offer patients scanning technology with INSiGHT. This computerized, non-invasive and painless test consisting of three parts: thermal, surface electromyography (SEMG), and heart rate variability (HRV). This scanning technology is not commonly used in our area, giving patients an important assessment that they can’t easily find at other practices.

Considerable training goes into using the INSiGHT and knowing how to interpret the scans, so we are able to provide value to our patients.

A Three-Part Scan

As there are three scans given with the INSiGHT, we can be more accurate and specific about the cause of a patient’s particular problem and what they need in terms of care. The entire scan process takes just 10-15 minutes and increases the effectiveness of our care.

Thermography

The scanner measures the temperature on each side of your spine. The autonomic nervous system (the part of the nervous system that you don’t need to think about) controls your skin temperature.

If there’s a difference of body temperature on the right or left sides of your spine, that means that there is stress on your autonomic nerves. This stress is also called a subluxation. The test helps us to determine what organs may be affected and the severity of the stress.

Conditions such as anxiety, stomach problems, high blood pressure, constipation and ear infections can be detected with a thermal scanner.

Heart Rate Variability (HRV)

The HRV looks at how your body is dealing with stress, how it’s adapting and your recovery from stressful situations. It also shows the overall wear and tear that prolonged stress has on your body. So that gives us an excellent gauge of how a person is dealing with stress—not just mental but physical and chemical stress.

Surface Electromyography (SEMG)

This test looks at how the muscular part of the body is working. The postural muscles, in particular, reveal how efficiently the body is using energy. If the body is wasting energy through postural muscles that detracts from your overall health.

The COREscore

Those three scans together are scored from 1 to 100, and all three are boiled down to one number—your COREscore. Again, a score of 100 is the best. Your score provides valuable information about how stress is affecting your health.

FAQ

What is the benefit of getting scanned?

In addition to patient history, the physical exam, a patient’s presentation and X-rays, the INSiGHT gives us more information that allows us to be more effective.

The benefits of these scans are to detect and pinpoint abnormal function, which cannot be seen on X-rays. The scans will let you know if chiropractic can help you.

Is it safe for babies and pregnant women?

Yes! One of the advantages of the INSiGHT is that no radiation is used and it’s completely painless. Therefore, infants, children and pregnant women can be safely scanned.

Why is my COREscore important?

Simply put, the higher the COREscore, the healthier you are. It indicates that there is optimal communication along the critical nerves of your body.

Evaluating Nervous System Function

All patients get scanned initially when they come in and every 12 visits thereafter— whether they’re on corrective care or wellness care. While X-rays are great to see what’s going on structurally, the scan allows us to look so much deeper at the function of the nervous system. It allows us to see what’s happening neurologically.

As you’re moving along through your care plan and we start correcting issues, sometimes we see areas where there was compensation. So the scan lets us see where the patterns are moving and we can adjust our care accordingly.
